An international meeting was held in Germany to support Moldova, which is said to be one of the poorest countries in Europe and is accepting many people who have fled from neighboring Ukraine. Agreed to provide financial support of nearly 90 billion yen.

Moldova has been severely affected by the military invasion of Russia, with 390,000 people, 15% of the population, evacuated from Ukraine.



Under these circumstances, an international meeting was held in Berlin on the 5th to support Moldova at the behest of Germany and France, and representatives from more than 30 countries including Japan participated, including online.



At the beginning of the meeting, Moldova's Prime Minister Gabrilliza explained that the new coronavirus and inflation had to deal with the originally difficult financial situation, saying that "accepting refugees is the biggest challenge for the Moldovan government ever." He stated and appealed for support.



The former Soviet Union, Moldova, is applying for membership in the EU = European Union due to concerns about Russia, and at the meeting, Moldova not only responded to those who had evacuated, but also made all the imports of natural gas to Russia. It was also discussed how to get rid of the dependence.



At a joint meeting after the meeting, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock announced that he had agreed to provide financial support of 659.5 million euros, or 88.9 billion yen in Japanese yen. He expressed his intention to continue to support Moldova.
