François Beya is spending his second night in Makala prison in Kinshasa, after two months of detention in the premises of the National Intelligence Agency (ANR).

Félix Tshisekedi's Special Security Advisor was taken Monday evening April 4 to the largest prison in Kinshasa.

The Congolese presidency indicates that it has against François Beya, "

serious indications attesting to actions against national security

".

Its defenders have come together in a collective called Free François Beya.

They denounce the way in which the procedure is conducted and fear a speedy trial.

It was around 6 p.m. that François Beya was transferred

from the premises of the powerful ANR

.

His friends, family members and supporters say they do not understand the mechanism by which this transfer took place.

We would have liked him to be first transferred to the prosecution and for the latter to decide by examining the case before transferring it to a judge,

explains Victor Tesongo, member of the Free François Beya collective.

The procedure was not followed.

The ANR decided directly on the transfer to Makala

This is also the opinion of deputy Claudel-André Lubaya who denounces what he calls “

a violation of the Constitution

” as well as, he adds, “

irregular and illegal detention

”.

Recalling the principle of the presumption of innocence, he asks the authorities to put an end

to “the abuse of state power in this case.

In the meantime, other collaborators of François Beya have been transferred to the military prison of Ndolo.

We do not understand why François Beya is transferred to Makala and his other collaborators were taken overnight to Ndolo prison,

wonders Victor Tesongo.

I don't know what procedure allows this night transfer.

His private secretary, his guard and his driver have been in detention in Ndolo since 3 am

.

A group of lawyers is being formed for their defense pending a possible trial.
