An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale was recorded early Monday evening in Guadeloupe.
This “light earthquake” occurred around 6 p.m. at a depth of 30 km, according to the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Guadeloupe (OVSG).
No damage was immediately reported.

A very active seismic zone
The epicenter of the earthquake was located at sea 54 km north-northeast of Anse-Bertrand, a town in the north of Grande-Terre.
Residents of Grande and Basse-Terre said on social networks that they felt the tremor.
Others living in the same area said they did not notice anything in particular.
Guadeloupe is in a very active seismic zone and regularly undergoes slight earthquakes, more or less felt by the inhabitants.
