The incident occurred in October 2020. Dervis Bayram was to pick up his son at the central station in Sundsvall, and due to a lack of free parking spaces, he parked in the taxi parking lot.

A security guard appeared and pointed out the incorrect parking.

An exchange of words took place and the security guard grabbed Dervis Bayram's head and hit him several times with a baton on his legs and arms.

He reported the guard to the police afterwards for assault, and the case was prosecuted.

Now the Sundsvall District Court's ruling has come: the security guard is sentenced to a suspended sentence and 50 hours of community service.

- It has affected my whole life, and that you get such a low penalty is ridiculous, says Dervis Bayram who is disappointed with the verdict.

Gone outside the powers

The security guard had countered Dervis Bayram for violent resistance and claimed self-defense, something that Sundsvall District Court does not pay any attention to.

The court finds that the guard "went far beyond what is permitted under the emergency law and that Dervis Bayram's conduct was not such that (NN) had the right to seize and beat Dervis Bayram with the baton on the basis of section 13 of the Police Act."

- I would just pick up my boy and be beaten, it hurts a lot and is still hard for me, says Dervis Bayram to SVT.

In its judgment, the district court has taken into account that the security guard will lose his appointment as a security guard if he is convicted.

The company Pema Vakt writes in a comment to the verdict:

We wait until the verdict has gained legal force before any comment.

The security guard has been suspended since the police revoked his appointment as a security guard.
