Zelensky visits Bucha and accuses Russian forces of committing war crimes

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Monday that it has become difficult for his country to negotiate with Russia since it learned the extent of the atrocities committed by Russian forces on its soil.

Zelensky was speaking on national television from the town of Bucha in the Kyiv region, where the bound bodies of people shot at close range, a mass grave and other evidence of executions were found in the lands retaken from Russian forces. "These are war crimes and the world will recognize it as genocide," Zelensky said, surrounded by soldiers.

"It is very difficult to speak when you see what they have done here... the longer the meetings lasted, the worse it was for them and for this situation and for this war, we know thousands of people who were killed and tortured... limbs cut off, women raped and children killed," he said.
