In a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Jordan's King Abdullah II stressed on Sunday the need to "find a comprehensive calm" between the Israelis and the Palestinians, in light of a state of escalation in the Palestinian territories.

A statement issued by the Jordanian royal court said that King Abdullah on Sunday received a phone call from the Prime Minister of Israel, during which the king stressed the "necessity of stopping any actions that could cause violence, fuel the conflict and undermine the chances of achieving peace."

The statement pointed out the importance of facilitating procedures and taking ways to enable worshipers to reach the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque without any obstacles and harassment, especially with the start of the blessed month of Ramadan, in which the number of worshipers and visitors to the Temple Mount increases.

Israeli official circles fear the deterioration of the security situation with the Palestinians during the month of Ramadan, especially in the occupied city of Jerusalem, with the Hebrew holidays coinciding with the holy month, and the willingness of settler groups to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque in large numbers.

And the Israeli occupation army deployed reinforcements in the West Bank and intensified arrest operations there, in anticipation of any Palestinian resistance operations in response to Israeli practices during this period.

The Israeli Foreign Minister, Yair Lapid, visited the occupation forces deployed in the Bab al-Amud area in occupied Jerusalem, and praised the work of the police and army forces present there, and called on them to protect themselves and Israel, noting that the circumstance is extremely difficult, as he put it.

The Palestinian factions condemned the storming of Lapid in the Bab al-Amoud area, and considered it a dangerous escalation and a provocation to the feelings of the Palestinians.
