Survey shows: High covid survival in Sörmland - despite widespread ill health

It shows a survey that SVT's local newsrooms made together with Assignment review.

In Sörmland, about 15 percent have died within 30 days of covid-iva, which is one of the lower numbers in the country.

Highest survival

If you look at the overall survival from the start of the pandemic until now, Sörmland is even in the top of the regions.

However, that figure does not take into account the age or disease picture of the patients who come in.

But even in relation to that, a so-called risk-adjusted value, Sörmland ranks in the upper half of the 21 regions with the highest survival.

Used special method

And that survival has been so high, despite a population with more risk factors, is something that the health service has also reacted to. 

- In terms of that, we should have had a higher mortality rate, says Mikael Rolfs, medical management manager at iva in Eskilstuna. 

He believes that the hospital used a method that increased survival.
