The shooting happened outside a nightclub not far from the California State Capitol.

The local police said that the shooting occurred at about 2 am on the 3rd, and the police found a crowd and multiple victims at the scene.

Six people were pronounced dead at the scene, including three men and three women, according to Sacramento Police Chief Kathryn Lester.

The 12 injured are currently being treated in local hospitals.

Lester said the gunman opened fire after a massive fight in the neighborhood.

Investigators are questioning some witnesses and have recovered hundreds of pieces of evidence from the scene, including a stolen handgun, she said.

Police confirmed that multiple gunmen were involved in the shooting, but no one has been arrested.

A reporter from China News Agency saw at the scene on the 3rd that several blocks around the incident had been blocked, and the police had placed a large number of signs with numbers in some areas.

Some of the victims' relatives and friends gathered outside the cordon to wait for further news.

Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg called for more funding for young people's mental health and more action on gun violence.

Gun violence is a disease in American culture, and every effort must be made to cure it, he said.
