Last July, the State Security Court issued a 15-year prison sentence against Awadallah and Sharif Hassan bin Zaid in the case, after convicting them of opposing the regime and causing sedition.

Awadallah and Bin Zaid were also convicted of "inciting opposition to the existing political regime in the kingdom, and carrying out actions that endanger the safety and security of society and cause sedition."

On April 4, 2021, Oman announced that "preliminary investigations" showed Prince Hamzah's involvement with "foreign parties" in "attempts to destabilize the country's security and mobilize citizens against the state," which the prince denied.

Prince Hamzah had submitted a written apology to his brother the King, wishing him to turn the page of what happened previously regarding what was known as the case of sedition.

Bin Al Hussein sent a letter of apology at the beginning of March, in which he acknowledged his mistake and assumed his national responsibility.

At the time, the royal court issued a statement, announcing that the king had received a letter from Prince Hamzah asking for forgiveness for his "positions and abuses" against the king and Jordan, and the events that followed in the case of sedition.

Prince Hamzah said that the months that have passed since the crisis last year provided "an opportunity for me to review myself and be honest with myself," expressing his hope "to turn that page in the history of Jordan and the family."

He added, "I apologize to Your Majesty, the Jordanian people, and our family for all these behaviors, which will not be repeated, with the permission of the Most Merciful."
