Ukraine is seen as a country with an increased risk of rabies, and with the war it is difficult to fully control that all animals that enter Sweden are vaccinated.

Therefore, the County Administrative Board of Västerbotten is now planning rabies vaccination for staff who work as animal welfare officers and veterinarians.

Something that vk.se was the first to report.

- It is a work environment measure.

In normal cases, animals should be vaccinated, but now animals with unknown vaccination status come.

The vaccine will be offered as long as there is a reason, says Annelie Grip Hansson, county veterinarian.

According to county veterinarian Annelie Grip Hansson, this is not a big deal but part of the authority's work environment work.

It is about 12-14 people at the county administrative board who will be offered the vaccine.
