The fishing boat Siam has just sailed out of Råå harbor.

Usually the first months of the year mean the high season for touring fishing in the Sound, but this year it is only the fifth time that the fishing boat leaves the harbor.

Now with a single passenger.

- It has gone straight down, no people in principle.

We have caught a lot of cod but we have had to release all of them, says Thomas Lövström.

Since the first of April, it has again been allowed to fish for cod, even if it is still in small quantities.

- It is one cod per person and day that applies, says Thomas Lövström.

Partially changed the business

Since it is precisely the cod fishing that usually accounts for the main income, Thomas Lövström has had to rethink.

Now he fills the boats with passengers for another purpose.

- We have a lot of ash spreads at sea now, lake burials have become very popular, he says.

The cod has benefited

According to the Öresund Aquarium in Elsinore, the cod stock has benefited from the fishing ban and during the first three months of the year, unusually large concentrations of spawning cod have been seen.

Thomas Lövström has been fishing for turf for over 40 years and he has seen an increasingly reduced cod stock over the years.

Even though he has been hit hard financially, he is positive that the cod stock is now starting to recover.

- It is very positive, but to ban fishing for a single cod is unreasonable.

We could have picked up two or three, he says.
