The snowfall over Hesse is decreasing - according to the German Weather Service (DWD), however, it will initially remain cloudy, rainy and uncomfortable.

Only on Monday will the rain gradually turn into showers and it will be a bit friendlier.

"After the short wintry interlude, we are heading towards a general change in the weather at the beginning of the new week," said a DWD meteorologist in Offenbach on Saturday.

Heavy snowfall over Rhein-Main

Moist and somewhat milder sea air from the northwest reaches Central Europe.

On Monday and Tuesday night, it causes stormy gusts, especially in the Hessian mountains.

On Tuesday, temperatures between seven and twelve degrees are expected during the day, on the Wasserkuppe up to five degrees.

Snow fell in large parts of Hesse on Saturday night.

According to the DWD, the snowfall was particularly heavy over the Rhine-Main area and the adjacent Sauerland.

Around 15 centimeters also came together in the Rhön.

According to the meteorologist, such a late onset of winter in April is "quite rare" - although not exceptional.
