It is known that President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol will nominate former Prime Minister Han Deok-soo as the first prime minister candidate for the next government today (4th).

It is known that President-elect Yoon will hold a press conference this afternoon at the Transition Committee in Tongui-dong, Seoul and officially announce former Prime Minister Han as a candidate for prime minister.

Former Prime Minister Han is expected to begin work on recommending candidates for ministers in each ministry while preparing for the National Assembly's personnel hearing by going to work from this week's office in Tongui-dong.

Former Prime Minister Han, from Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in economics and passed the administrative exam, walking the path of an orthodox bureaucrat.

He served as the head of the Cabinet Office during the Roh Moo-hyun administration, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economy, and the Prime Minister.

Former Prime Minister Han, a native of Honam and an elder who has served in the highest levels of government under the Roh Moo-hyun administration, is often considered a relatively advantageous card for gaining approval from the Democratic Party of Korea with a majority in relation to the prime ministership, which requires the approval of the National Assembly.

Previously, President-elect Yoon will attend the Jeju April 3 Victims Memorial Ceremony at 10 am today, and will travel using Air Force No. 2, the presidential plane.

This is the first time for a president or elected president from a conservative party to attend the 4·3 memorial ceremony.

When President-elect Yoon visited Jeju in February, when he was a presidential candidate, he promised to attend the memorial service, saying, "I will do my best to ensure that the bereaved family is compensated appropriately."
