The man was stopped on the E20 at Leggesta in Strängnäs municipality just over a year ago when the patrol reacted to the car commuting at speed.

According to the police, the man showed signs of being under the influence and when the car was searched, a suitcase packed with tramadol was found, a painkiller that has become a common drug among addicts.

When the police later counted the seizure, they got together 18,100 tablets.

Suspected drug deals

The prosecutor has now charged the man, who lives in Eskilstuna, with a serious drug offense and she believes that the transport of the tablets was part of a professional drug operation.

The street price for the entire seizure, which weighed 3.6 kilos, is estimated at more than half a million kronor.

The 47-year-old has in a police interrogation denied the crime.

He claims in an interrogation that the bag did not belong to him but that he was commissioned by someone else to pick it up, for a compensation of SEK 4,500.
