A 92-year-old man died tonight of smoke poisoning in
a fire declared in a house located on a plot
of land in the Madrid town of Valdetorres del Jarama, a municipality of 4,000 inhabitants located in the north of the region and 40 kilometers from the capital.
Sources from Emergencies 112 have reported that
a neighbor rescued the victim from inside the house and began resuscitation maneuvers
until the arrival of the SUMMA112 assistance, which continued the same although finally they have to confirm the death of the old man.
Firefighters from the Community of Madrid have extinguished the fire, which
affected only the room of the building where the nonagenarian slept.
The deceased lived alone in the house and had a large orchard on the plot.
At the moment, it is unknown how he was able to start the fire.
