China News Agency, Anhui Tunxi, April 1. On March 31, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abdullahyan, who was in China for the third Afghan Neighboring Foreign Ministers' Meeting, in Tunxi, Anhui.

  Wang Yi said that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Iran relations have maintained a strong momentum of development.

China supports Iran in safeguarding national sovereignty and national dignity, and defending its legitimate rights and interests. It is believed that Iran will also firmly support China in safeguarding its core interests.

As a comprehensive strategic partner, China is committed to deepening bilateral cooperation in various fields, and is willing to work together to create more cooperation outcomes for the benefit of the two peoples.

  Abdullahyan congratulated China on successfully holding a series of meetings on the Afghanistan issue, and said that Iran and China have profound traditional friendship and rich cooperation contents.

The important consensus reached by the two heads of state has injected strong impetus into the development of bilateral relations.

No matter how the situation changes, the Iranian side is firmly committed to developing Iran-China relations and firmly supports China's just stance.

The Iranian side is willing to expand the oil and gas cooperation between the two countries, become a reliable energy partner of the Chinese side, and strengthen connectivity, trilateral cooperation and educational exchanges with the Chinese side.

  The two sides agreed to strengthen anti-terrorism security cooperation.

Wang Yi stressed that it is necessary to maintain a high degree of vigilance against the "East Iran Movement" and other terrorist and extremist forces taking advantage of the situation in Afghanistan to cause chaos and troubles, and take effective measures to safeguard common interests.

Wang Yi expressed that China supports Iran in improving and developing relations with neighboring countries and resolving differences through dialogue.

  The two sides agreed to jointly resist unilateral sanctions.

Wang Yi emphasized that the United States has become a "professional account" of unilateral sanctions, which violates the basic norms of international relations, actually destroys its credibility, and damages its own interests.

Sanctions fail to achieve their goals, but instead encourage sanctioned countries to increase their resilience and ultimately develop stronger.

  The two sides also exchanged views on the resumption of negotiations on the implementation of the JCPOA.
