China News Agency, Anhui Tunxi, April 1. On March 31, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi presided over the third Afghan Neighboring Foreign Ministers' Meeting and the first Foreign Ministers' Dialogue between Afghanistan's neighboring countries and the Afghan Interim Government in Tunxi, Anhui Province.

After the meeting, Wang Yi held a press conference to introduce the important consensus and outcomes of the meeting and answer questions from reporters.

In response to a reporter's question about whether China would consider diplomatic recognition of the Afghan Taliban interim government, Wang Yi said that diplomatic recognition is a key concern of the Afghan interim government, and it is also an issue of general concern to the international community.

As a traditional friendly neighbor of Afghanistan, China always believes that Afghanistan should not become a failed country, let alone be excluded from the international community.

Afghanistan has been suffering from war for many years and has fallen behind the pace of world development. This situation should not continue.

The Afghan people have the right to live a peaceful and well-fed life, and the Afghan nation also has the right to stand on an equal footing among the nations of the world.

Wang Yi said, we have noticed that since the establishment of the Afghan interim government, it has made a lot of efforts in stabilizing governance and achieved certain results.

During the dialogue and exchanges, the Algerian side introduced its determination to achieve independent development, expressed its desire to gain more understanding and support from its neighbors and the international community, and showed a positive attitude in foreign exchanges.

At the same time, we have also noticed that the international community, including neighboring countries, still has a lot of concerns and expectations for the Afghan interim government. We hope that the Afghan interim government will complete its role change as soon as possible, and will promote national reconciliation, be more inclusive and build a government, ensure the employment of women and children and ensure the safety of women and children. More progress has been made in areas such as the right to education, and in particular, a firmer stance and more visible results in the fight against terrorism.

Wang Yi said that from an objective point of view, the solution of the above-mentioned problems still requires unremitting efforts.

It is believed that diplomatic recognition of the Afghan government will be a matter of course as the concerns of all parties receive a stronger response.

We hope and expect that the Afghan interim government will continue to take solid steps and make concrete efforts in this right direction.

Talking about the important consensus and outcomes of the series of meetings on the Afghanistan issue, Wang Yi said that the outcomes of the meetings are reflected in two documents, one is the Joint Statement of the Third Afghan Neighboring Foreign Ministers' Meeting, and the other is the "Afghanistan Neighboring Countries on Supporting Afghanistan's Economic Reconstruction". and the Tunxi Initiative for Pragmatic Cooperation.

These two documents reflect the common political stance of neighboring countries and decide to provide substantive support to Afghanistan in key areas such as humanitarian assistance, connectivity, economic and trade, agricultural development, energy and power, and capacity building.

Wang Yi expressed that the "Tunxi Initiative" brings together the measures, ideas and suggestions of Afghanistan's neighboring countries to support the peaceful reconstruction of Afghanistan, with rich contents and will play an important role in promoting the peaceful reconstruction and stable development of Afghanistan in the future.

The initiative embodies five characteristics: first, do not engage in geopolitical games and focus on pragmatic cooperation; second, do not impose on others, and advocate equality and voluntariness; third, do not engage in high-profile empty talk, and pursue practical results; Regional connectivity; Fifth, do not engage in closed confrontation, and advocate openness and inclusiveness.

Wang Yi stressed that this series of meetings on the Afghanistan issue is an important part of the gathering of neighboring countries of Afghanistan and increasing their support and assistance to Afghanistan. It is also a useful attempt by the international community to explore a new way to comprehensively resolve hotspot issues.

We firmly believe that with the unremitting efforts of all parties, Afghanistan will have a bright future and the beautiful expectations of the people of all ethnic groups in Afghanistan can be realized.

Afghanistan will return to the Asian family as an important and equal member.
