Today, the UAE sent a plane carrying 30 tons of foodstuffs to Mekele, Tigray region in Ethiopia, as part of the direct relief air bridge to meet the growing needs of the population, which included sending 13 relief, medical and food aid planes, including 7 planes to Tigray carrying 220 tons.

The country's ambassador to Ethiopia, Mohamed Salem Al Rashidi, stated that sending aid comes within the framework of the UAE's efforts to provide all aspects of support to countries in distress, especially women and children, to help them overcome the difficult conditions they are going through, noting that the UAE provided 85 million US dollars to support relief operations in Ethiopia in cooperation with international organizations.

He noted that the UAE has always been among the first countries to provide relief efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in all brotherly and friendly African countries, in the belief of the wise leadership that the world must stand in solidarity and unite towards urgent humanitarian issues, and to harness all efforts to provide relief to the needy around the world. .

It is worth noting that the UAE has sent 500 tons of urgent food and medical supplies to Addis Ababa and Mekele from the beginning of 2022 until the end of March of this year.
