On the first of April, you are allowed to joke about things that would not have been okay other days.

Among other things, the shopping center Asecs in Jönköping and Värnamo municipality have been joking.

But media researcher Bengt Johansson at the University of Gothenburg says that fewer and fewer people choose to publish an April Fool's joke because it does not fit in quite as well in a society where fake news abounds, especially on social media.
