In the clip, you hear answers from responsible politicians at Sahlgrenska.

Cecilia Dalman Eek (S) is one of the most diligent debaters of maternity care among regional politicians.

She reacts strongly to the information that maternity care in Gothenburg is one of the cheapest in the country.

- I think it is unbelievable that this hospital, which is so fantastically good, should have to be the best at being the cheapest.

That is completely wrong, she says.

A: "There is a lot to do"

In the last three years, the budget for childbirth has been between 403 and 406 million, and before the year the business received a reduction, despite the fact that staff costs have risen all the time.

- If our budget had won in the council, obstetrics would have had 421 million instead, she says.

Where did you get that money from?

- We had taken the money that is available, the region has made a good financial result and used it.

There is a lot to do.

Have not asked for more money

At the same time, the deficits have gone from plus twelve million in the exceptional year 2018 to minus 50 million last year.

But Gustaf Josefson (M), chairman of Sahlgrenska's board, does not necessarily believe that more money is needed and he has not asked for more money for the birth.

- What is important is that we put all the pieces together and we need to work with the deficits.

We try to find a systematic work to find out about this.

This is driven by the operational management and we think we have a good dialogue.
