The war in Ukraine made the mother Maria Lyktberg check the shelters in Hallsberg if they were adapted for wheelchair users, as her daughter Anna is in a wheelchair.

But they did not manage to find any.

- There are many elderly people who are wheelchair bound or people with a disability, what should they do in the event of a crisis, mother Maria asks.

MSB is the supervisory authority for shelters in Sweden, but it is the property owner who must ensure that the shelters are accessible.

MSB: "Not subject to notification"

In an email to SVT, MSB writes that the shelter register does not show which shelters are adapted.

"Many shelters are available, but not all of them usually have adaptations for people with, for example, disabilities."

When asked why they do not arrange a list of shelters that are adapted, MSB answers that any adaptations that do not impair the shelter function are not notifiable.

In the clip above, you can see when Anna Lyktberg tries to get down to the nearest shelter in Hallsberg.
