Russia's invasion of Ukraine has now been going on for just over a month and several refugees have reached Sweden and Östergötland.

SVT Nyheter Öst's survey shows that several of the municipalities in the county are already preparing leisure activities for the refugee children who have arrived and are expected to arrive.

Work started

The municipality of Norrköping is, for example, carrying out a joint effort with the culture and leisure office aimed at children in compulsory school, and a special effort is also being carried out within the open preschool aimed at refugee children.

Several municipalities, such as Boxholm, Finspång and Mjölby, have started working on the issue by, for example, appointing coordinators.

Vadstena municipality states that they have started up a leisure center on a few occasions.

In several of the municipalities, the Church of Sweden also arranges leisure activities aimed at the children who come here.

The municipality invites to a meeting

The municipality has talked to, among others, aid organizations, study associations and sports associations to be well prepared to respond to refugees.

Haris Agic, strategist in inclusion at Norrköping Municipality and coordinator of the meeting, believes that there are many positive aspects to a meeting.
