It is the start-up of Bergslagen's Artillery Regiment A9 in Kristinehamn that means that there is an increased need for the Armed Forces to practice at Villingsberg.

- Building up an artillery regiment requires that we can carry out firing with artillery.

Villingesberg is the only firing range where we can do it regularly.

That is why that activity becomes very important.

And the expansion of the area is simply due to the fact that we are monitoring the noise from the artillery operations.

This is to ensure that we can conduct that business in the long term, says Ulrika Gustafsson.

But there is a clear conflict of interest between the national interest that the area constitutes and the impact that the investments can have on local residents and outdoor life.

Örebro and Nora municipality have come in with several views with precisely that concern about these parts.

Listen Ulrika Gustafsson gives her view on the conflict of interest in the clip.

Neighbors not directly informed

Despite the investments in Villingsberg, no direct contact has been made with the nearby residents.

- We have consulted with the County Administrative Board, which passed the information on to the municipalities.

Then we had a shooting council where the public could participate.

We monitor national interests throughout Sweden with many firing ranges and mainly provide information to county administrative boards and municipalities, says Ulrika Gustafsson.

The Armed Forces will continue to be in contact with the County Administrative Board for dialogue on what future investments in outdoor life and other things that are possible in the future are linked to the increased firing.

- Some investments can work well to coexist with our business and others may need to change, says Ulrika Gustafsson.
