The motion that the Moderates submitted to the Individual and Family Committee has been discussed at previous committee meetings and now a consultation response will be discussed, which in turn will be submitted to the municipal board in Västerås.

According to statistics from the City of Västerås, the Individual and Family Administration's social housing unit had about 900 cases where the tenant risked being evicted from their apartment in 2021. Of these, 52 evictions were carried out and 13 of them were families with children.

Whether the motion with income requirements goes through remains to be seen, but according to Marcus Jacobson (M), there is good support for the motion.

- Nobody wants children to be evicted and many feel that way, he says.

But he thinks there is a big problem with evictions in Västerås.

Should an income requirement mean that only certain people can afford to rent a home - the moderate Marcus Jacobson answers in the clip.
