Monique Carden defended one of the officials.

Her cost bill amounts to SEK 638,871.

Damon Tojjar's two lawyers, Henrik Jacobsson and Staffan Bergqvist, request SEK 1,047,715 and SEK 1,148,302, respectively.

The other official's lawyer, Conny Cedermark, has written a bill of SEK 1,966,465.

It is the district court that ultimately determines the size of the compensation.

On Friday, the verdict will come in the bribery trial at Malmö District Court.

Hundreds of emails and documents

Damon Tojjar's lawyer Staffan Bergqvist explains his bill of SEK 1,148,302 by saying that the defense of his client involved an extensive work effort:

“Damon Tojjar has to a considerable extent collected a very large amount of documents where no detail in relation to either the preliminary investigation or the previous case has been too small not to be investigated.

The same applies to the oral evidence.

Damon Tojjar has also read legal literature, judgments and preparatory work regarding bribery, infidelity against the principal and the law on public procurement to a not insignificant extent. "

Bergqvist writes that he received about 450 emails and over 200 documents from his client.

The prosecutor questions time accounting

Thomas Forsberg, chamber prosecutor at the National Unit against Corruption, believes in a statement that the defense's bills are unreasonable.

He questions, among other things, whether lawyer Jacobsson has really met Damon Tojjar as many times as alleged.

"At the same time, the client Damon Tojjar in a letter to the district court with a request for dismissal of lawyer Jacobsson stated that he had only received a few meetings with lawyer Jakobsson."

Twice as expensive taxi

The prosecutor is also hesitant about one of the lawyers' hourly rates.

“The lawyer Conny Cedermark has requested compensation of SEK 3,000 / hour.

In the event that the prosecution, or parts of the prosecution, were to be dismissed, a higher hourly rate than the ordinary criminal case rate should not be paid, "the prosecutor writes.

According to the Swedish Courts, the ordinary criminal case rate amounts to SEK 1,442 per hour.
