Philippe Poutou is a candidate for the 2022 presidential election for the third time.

Invested by the New Anti-Capitalist Party (NPA), the Trotskyist defends a project aimed at putting "the capitalists out of harm's way" and to stand up against the "president of the rich" Emmanuel Macron (LREM).

Economy and employment

Philippe Poutou's priority is “the anti-capitalist emergency”.

With this in mind, the candidate wants to expropriate the big companies of France, starting with the big groups of the pharmaceutical industry and the multinationals "which plunder the wealth in the four corners of the world".

Private clinics will be expropriated and integrated into the public hospital.

For the NPA candidate, capitalism is a “dangerous scam”.

In order to "save jobs" in this context, he intends to prohibit dismissal and plans to switch to the 4-day week, giving workers more time to "take care of themselves and their own".

Ecology

Philippe Poutou considers himself an “ecosocialist” and wants to initiate a “real ecological transition”.

To do this, he wants to nationalize key sectors of the economy, like energy and its heavyweights – EDF, among others.

In addition to the return to peasant agriculture, he also gives himself ten years to get out of nuclear power and fossil fuels, and carries the bold objective of 100% renewable energies by 2050.

Security and Defense

Like Nathalie Arthaud (Lutte Ouvrière), the NPA candidate presents himself as an “internationalist” and defends the total opening of the French borders and beyond, in order to facilitate the installation and movement of migrants.

He also wants to regularize all undocumented migrants, disarm the police and bring the country out of NATO.

Philippe Poutou also positioned himself on the status of Corsica.

He declared to be "for the right of peoples to self-determination" and pleads for "the recognition of a status, a language, a culture and the law" for island territories with independence wishes.
