- We are now experiencing an uncertain world.

Pandemics, wars and climate change require a robust society.

The investments that are being made now aim for Jönköping municipality and its residents to be better equipped in the event of a crisis, says Ann-Marie Nilsson (C), chair of the municipal board, in a press release.

The rescue service proposes together with the municipal board that SEK 45.3 million be invested during 2022-2024.

The money will, among other things, go to strengthened reserve power at all special housing in elderly care and disability care.

In this way, they must be able to withstand heating even in the event of a power failure.

Childcare will be available around the clock for parents who work in socially important activities.

Eleven predetermined crisis schools will have the opportunity to cope with heating in the event of loss of district heating.

In the event of disruptions longer than one week, it must be possible to carry out limited teaching at crisis schools.

The water supply is strengthened

Drinking water supply is further strengthened with increased reserve power in certain high-rise residential areas where there is currently only reservoir volume.

In order to maintain secure communication within the municipality's socially important activities, the Rakel communication system must be used.

It will also increase the security of IT systems to counter cyber attacks.

Security points

Safety points shall be established for the public in connection with crisis schools and at fire stations.

At a security point where you should be able to call 112 if the telephone network does not work.

Here there should also be maid, charge her mobile phone and have access to heat and water.

- The proposals aim to improve crisis preparedness for the municipality's socially important activities.

The measures have been developed together with several administrations, says Göran Melin, Jönköping Municipality's deputy rescue chief, in a press release.

The proposal is prepared by the municipal board on 12 April and a possible decision on the investments will be made by the municipal council on 28 April.
