The contamination curve is on the rise again.

This increase is confirmed and is accelerating further in Pays-de-la-Loire.

“It is indeed a 6th wave.

After dropping to 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the epidemic is starting again, ”explains Dr Pierre Blaise, from the Regional Health Agency (ARS) of Pays-de-la-Loire.

The fault with a sub-variant, Omicron BA.2, very contagious.

A fortnight ago, the incidence rate had already increased to 661 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the region.

It is now 1.335!

An increase of 47% over the last seven days.

As for the positivity rate, it reached 37%.

One of the highest rates since the start of the epidemic.

"The game is not over"

Result: the hospital pressure is felt again.

Especially since this increase in contamination is now combined with two currently highly contagious viruses: winter flu and gastroenteritis.

810 people positive for Covid-19 are currently hospitalized in the Pays-de-la-Loire, including 55 in intensive care, against 44 a week ago.

“Perhaps we sometimes forget the obvious gestures: hand washing, airing the rooms… The match is not over”, underlines the ARS.
