In the survey, the municipalities answered questions about the work with suicide prevention in a number of different areas.

This includes education and initiatives in schools, care for the elderly and social services - but also if risk analyzes have been carried out of physical locations in the municipalities.

On the latter, only Kungsbacka answered yes.

- We work with social impact assessments.

It may be that when we produce a detailed plan, we should already be thinking from a suicide prevention purpose.

If we build a high-rise building or other structures where there is a risk, this must be weighed in, says Cecilia Ljunqvist Holm, coordinator for the suicide prevention work in Kungsbacka municipality.

Increases among children and young people

Other municipalities have answered no or they do not know.

Furthermore, the municipalities are rejected when it comes to education and initiatives within the school, an area that Suicide zero emphasizes as extra important.

- A group where we can see that suicides are increasing right now are children and young people.

There, it is extra important that work is done, says Fredrika Fredmark, communications manager at Suicide zero.

In Halland, it is the region that has the overall responsibility for the work with suicide prevention and the municipalities have committed themselves to follow the joint action plan that has been developed together with Region Halland.
