Starting today (31st), the COVID-19 vaccine vaccination for children aged 5-11 will start at 1,200 designated consigned medical institutions nationwide.

Inoculation is carried out at 1,200 consigned medical institutions designated for pediatric vaccination nationwide, and a pediatric vaccine containing only 1/3 (30㎍→10㎍) of the active ingredient of the existing vaccine (for those over 12 years old) is used.

As of today, the COVID-19 vaccination response promotion team (promotional team) includes children 5 to 11 years old (children born in 2010 who have not passed their birthday, or children born in 2017 who have passed their birthday) as of today.

The promotion group recommended that high-risk groups, such as children with diabetes or obesity, chronic lung, heart, liver, and kidney disease, children with immunocompromised immunity, and sons living in social welfare facilities with membranous disease, be vaccinated actively.

For general children, parents were allowed to autonomously decide whether to vaccinate.

However, unlike high-risk children, subsequent vaccinations are not recommended if confirmed before or after the first vaccination.

Advance reservations started on the 24th despite the authorities' recommendations, but the reservation rate was only 1.3% as of the 28th.

Kwon Geun-yong, head of the vaccination management team of the Promotion Group, said, "Because the vaccination recommendation is limited to children in the high-risk group with underlying diseases and other immunocompromised factors, the overall reservation rate for 5-11 year olds is inevitably low." We are encouraging people to get vaccinated in a way that guides them on the need for vaccination during the treatment process.”

As of 00:00 on the 30th, the cumulative number of confirmed cases between the ages of 5 and 11 is 1,486,821, with 5 deaths.

There are about 330,000 more confirmed cases of 12-18 year olds than the 1,151,987 cumulative confirmed cases.

The interval between the first and second doses of pediatric vaccination is 8 weeks (56 days).

If the vaccination is advanced for medical reasons or personal reasons, the second vaccination is possible after 3 weeks (21 days), which is the approval interval of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

A guardian or legal representative must accompany children for vaccination.

Precautions and actions will be sent via text message to the contact information registered at the time of inoculation on the 3rd and 7th days after the 1st inoculation, and on the 3rd, 7th, and 42th days after the 2nd inoculation.

Those wishing to inoculate on the same day can visit the designated pediatric inoculation hospital and check if there is a spare vaccine.

The promotion team recommended that the inoculation be postponed if corona 19 infection is suspected or a fever (above 37.5℃) appears before inoculation, and that it is recommended to observe the occurrence of adverse reactions at the inoculation institution for 15 to 30 minutes after inoculation.
