It all started with two 17-year-old young people getting in touch on social media and falling in love, but which ended with a trial where the boy's parents are accused of child molestation.

The trial is the first of its kind and depending on what the verdict shows, it will form the basis to some extent for future investigations.

Prosecutor Jessica Wenna thinks so.

- We have had the same concept in cases involving forced marriage, where we have tried to show a marriage-like relationship, but it will be an interesting ruling and will be the first to apply to child marriage offenses, she says.

As a sanction, the prosecutor proposes imprisonment for 6 months or a suspended sentence with community service for the boy's parents.

The verdict will be announced in two weeks.

When is the marriage entered into and is it entered into at all?

During one of the visits to the girl's family in Germany, an engagement party must have taken place.

The evidence highlights, among other things, films and pictures where a cake can be seen.

The name of the two young people and the word "engagement" in German are on the cake.

Some time later, the girl goes to Sweden and lives for several months with the boy's family in Västmanland.

The marriage between the young people is entered into before the girl steps over the threshold to the home, according to prosecutor Jessica Wenna.

Then a party is held, something the defense lawyers say was a welcome party, while the prosecutor a party to celebrate the marriage.

Whether the two young people are to be counted as married or not has been discussed during the last day of the trial.

In the clip above, prosecutor Jessica Wenna and the father's defense lawyer Martin Beskow talk about the difficulties around if and when the marriage is entered into.
