Investigators from the Lyon judicial police arrested two young Isérois in the Pyrénées-Orientales, this Friday.
On board their vehicle: 324 kg of resin and herbal cannabis that they hoped to convey to North Isère for their sponsors.
According to Le Dauphiné Libéré, the cargo was valued at 2.5 million euros.
Sentenced to four years in prison
Informed anonymously of this trip to Spain, the investigators had equipped the two vehicles concerned with GPS beacons.
Once intercepted, the 19 and 22 year old drivers were brought back to Lyon and placed in police custody.
Brought to the Vienna court on Monday, they explained that they had been recruited via the Telegram application.
According to their statements, they would have received only 1,500 and 2,000 euros for this "mission".
The two defendants were sentenced to four in prison, half of which was suspended on probation.
A warrant of committal has been issued against them.
