Two people were killed on Wednesday when a gunman opened fire at a McDonald's restaurant in Zwolle, northern Netherlands, Dutch police and media said.
“Two people were killed in a shootout,” police said on Twitter, local radio RTL Oost adding that the incident occurred around 6 p.m.
A call for witnesses
Witnesses said the victims were eating in the restaurant when a gunman entered and opened fire, in an apparently "targeted" attack.
The shooter fled.
The police and the emergency services intervened, the rescuers tried to resuscitate one of the injured, without succeeding.
Police appealed for witnesses and sealed off the area, which was being flown over by a helicopter.
