Driven by a strong northerly wind, a disturbance will tumble Thursday on the regions bordering the English Channel at the start of the day, announces Météo-France in its forecast bulletin.

This disturbance will give light rain over Brittany and Normandy then Ile-de-France, with sometimes wet snow, especially on the heights.

The intermittent rains will shift over the Pays de la Loire and the Center at midday

It will snow in the Hauts de France, the soil will whiten locally, then during the morning the snow will temporarily shift to the Ardennes then return to the Nord and Pas-de-Calais in the afternoon, then also to Picardy in evening and the Paris region the following night.

We should then have 2 to 5 cm of snow on the ground in general on the Hauts de France in the night from Thursday to Friday, locally a little more with accumulations caused by a fairly strong north wind.

Further west, the intermittent rains will shift to the Pays de la Loire and the Center at midday, then to the north-eastern quarter of the country in the afternoon, giving a little snow to Lorraine.

In the evening the precipitation will shift from Alsace to the Alps.

Aft, calmer but cold weather will set in over the North-West, with showers in the afternoon, sometimes snow or sleet.

In the evening the weather will calm down, only a few showers will remain near the English Channel.

Down to 0 degrees over the northern half of the country

Further south, the weather will be overcast in the morning with some rain, more variable in the afternoon with scattered showers.

The rain-snow limit will be around 1200 m in the Pyrenees, then 800 m in the evening, around 1000 m in the Alps and 700 m in the Massif Central.

Near the Mediterranean the sky will be a little brighter but showers will remain possible, the westerly wind will blow up to 90 km/h in gusts.

Temperatures will drop.

The minimums will range from 0 to 5 degrees over the northern half and the Massif Central, locally 6 in the Alsace plain and in Brittany, and from 5 to 10 degrees in the south.

The maximum will vary between 7 and 11 degrees in general in the north, a little less near the Belgian border, from 10 to 14 from the South-West to the Alps and from 15 to 20 degrees from Languedoc to Provence and Corsica.
