Russian gas: Germany activates the first level of its emergency plan

In Germany, the government has announced that it has implemented level “1” of its emergency supply plan, on a scale that includes three alert levels.
This plan may allow Berlin to ration gas, oil and coal for certain industries.

For now, we are still in a preventive scenario, with the establishment of an energy crisis unit in Berlin.
Moscow continues for the time being to respect the contracts, recalls the Ministry of the Economy.
But if Russia were to close the gas tap, Berlin could activate Level 3 of its emergency plan.
Clearly, establish a list of priorities.
In the event of an energy shortage, households, hospitals, utilities and power plants take priority.
But industry could be rationed.
A disaster scenario for the powerful German chemistry, responsible for the production of quantities of basic products for pharmacy, agriculture, food or the health field.
The government wants to be reassuring for the time being, recalling that the gas tanks are 26% full.
Above all, the diversification of supplies is advancing rapidly.
Already, Russian gas represents only 40% of total consumption, against 55% before the war.
