THE ESSENTIAL

  • After the hearing on Tuesday of Mohamed Abrini, known as the "man in the hat" during his hunt, Salah Abdeslam, the only survivor of the commandos of November 13, 2015, must be questioned about his involvement in the attacks in Paris and Saint Denis.

  • During his last hearing on the preparations for the attacks, Salah Abdeslam was particularly provocative towards the parties and refused to answer many questions.

  • A few weeks ago, however, the accused, who faces a life sentence, had implied that he had voluntarily given up on blowing himself up on the evening of the attacks.

TO HAVE

12:05 p.m .: What are the links between Salah Abdeslam and the other defendants?

12:00 p.m.: The thesis of renunciation or a defective belt

In March 2016, after his muscular arrest in Belgium, the last survivor of the November 13 commandos claimed to have "given up" to activate his explosive belt.

He had explained that he had to blow himself up at the Stade de France but that he had changed his mind when he arrived near the sports enclosure.

He had then abandoned his car in the 18th arrondissement then his belt in the south of Paris.

This thesis has never convinced the National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor's Office (PNAT), in particular because an attack in the 18th district did appear in the press release of the terrorist organization but also because the expert opinions carried out on the belt within the framework of the investigation showed that it was defective.

Finally, Salah Abdeslam had confided to relatives that she had not walked the evening of the attacks.

11:55 a.m .: Why is this interrogation particularly expected?

This is Salah Abdeslam's fourth interrogation since the start of the trial.

After a hearing devoted to his personality and then two others on his radicalization and the preparations for the attacks, the specially composed assize court will examine today and tomorrow the period from November 7 to 13, 2015. accused, Salah Abdeslam is the only one to have participated in the commandos sent to Paris and Saint-Denis by Daesh.

The questions concerning the course of the attacks are therefore numerous.

What was the mission entrusted to Salah Abdeslam?

Why did the press release issued by Daesh evoke an attack in the 18th arrondissement of Paris?

Was the explosive belt found in a trash can in Montrouge by the investigators really defective?

Did he try to activate it or did he give up at the last moment to commit an attack?

All these questions that have been driving the civil parties for six years will be addressed this afternoon.

Hello everyone and welcome to this live dedicated to the last interrogation of Salah Abdeslam, the only living member of the November 13 commandos.

He will be heard by the specially composed Assize Court on the precise sequence of the attacks that evening and on the role attributed to him.
