The work to get rid of the shared tours in elderly care in Borgholm municipality started in 2020 and gradually since the start, the number of shared tours has decreased to cease completely at the turn of the year 2021-2022.

Reduced sick leave

- This affects a total of 150 people who mainly work in elderly care, says Anna Hasselbom-Trofast who is social manager in Borgholm municipality.

And already now she seems to see that sick leave has decreased in the personal staff group that previously worked with shared tours.

- I have no figures and it is very early yet, but the trend clearly looks like that, she says.

Changed schedule

To get around the shared tours, the municipality has set up services that involve a lot of weekend service with shortened working week hours.

Those who have shared shifts in their work first work a shift in the morning and in the morning, are then free for a few hours in the middle of the day and then start working again for an evening shift.

A review of the magazine Kommunalarbetaren from 2019 showed that 2 out of 3 municipalities apply shared trips in care.
