Fredrik Modéus is a bishop in Växjö diocese to which the eight southernmost municipalities in Jönköping County belong.
His brother Martin Modéus is a bishop in the diocese of Linköping, where Eksjö, Aneby and Tranås belong.
The brothers were voted on Wednesday as two of five candidates nominated for the post of archbishop.
Fredrik Modéus says in a press release from Växjö diocese that he is happy as a bishop in Växjö diocese and that it has not been an easy decision to make himself available as a candidate in the archbishop election.
Martin most votes
Martin Modéus received 29.25 percent of the vote while Fredrik Modéus received 11.22 percent.
The election will take place on 18 May.
If none of the candidates for the archbishopric receives more than 50 percent of the votes, a second election will be held.
