“Pathetic, this individual ready for anything!

A viral publication on Facebook has been generating many outraged comments for several days.

In one photo, philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy can be seen posing in what looks like a studio setting, in front of a photographer.

“Bernard Henry Lévy [sic] is photographed in a falsified set set up in a studio to make it look like he is in Ukraine,” explains the text accompanying the image.

“Everything is wrong with him.

Only his Machiavellian and twisted intellect is true, ”denounces a user.

“All his life, he will have done nothing but lie,” protests another.

Some Facebook users question the authenticity of the image: “Who tells you that this montage photo is not…a montage?

FAKE OFF

Although there is no consensus on BHL's positions, he has never staged a trip to the country at war since the invasion of Russia on February 24.

The publication is actually based on a photomontage that has been circulating for a long time on social networks.

Its first publication dates back to March 16, 2014. It already suggested that BHL had not visited Ukraine, shortly before Russia's invasion of Crimea.

The image that served as the basis for the false viral post was taken on February 8 in kyiv 2014 by photographer Emeric Fohlen.

At the time, the snapshot was published by VSD in March 2014, as

Le Monde

pointed out in January 2018.

In February-March 2014, BHL had indeed traveled to Ukraine during the revolution in Maidan Square.

He notably gave a speech in kyiv on Independence Square, as shown in the photo taken by an AFP photographer illustrating this article.

The misleading publication reappears today as the French philosopher has been to Ukraine since the Russian invasion.

He notably wrote an article published in the number 3803 of

Paris-Match

published on March 24, 2014, in which he mentions in particular the city of Odessa, where he went well.
