The 22-year-old perpetrator is sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison for a serious drug offense and assault.

The assault was captured on film and spread widely just over a year after the incident occurred.

The perpetrator was then wanted by the police, who told him that he was still at large.

But after the TV3 program Efterlyst posted the film on social media, the 22-year-old chose to hand himself over to the police.

He was notified of suspicion of crime but no arrest was deemed necessary.

In November 2021, he was detained for another crime.

- He was arrested in connection with the fact that he was in a car that the police were chasing, which turned out to contain a lot of drugs, says Kristoffer Ståhl, the convicted person's defense lawyer.

Acknowledged the act

The 22-year-old and the victim had no previous relationship with each other, but met outside a nightclub.

- My client has briefly explained that it was an exchange of words between two drunk people that escalated in this act.

What exactly was said is unclear, says Kristoffer Ståhl.

Lund District Court considers that the assault was of a serious nature and that it would have a penalty value of six months for an adult perpetrator.

Since the convicted person was 19 years old at the time of the incident, the punishment for the assault has been reduced.

The sentence for a serious drug offense, on the other hand, came in 5 years and 4 months.

The perpetrator admitted the act during the trial, and also apologized to the plaintiff.

He will pay damages of SEK 15,400 with interest to the woman.

- He has said that he deeply regrets, and will not appeal the assault verdict, the defense attorney says.

Appeals part of them

However, the convict will request to be acquitted of the charges of a serious drug offense as he claims that he was only a passenger and did not know that there were drugs in the car.

SVT Nyheter has sought a prosecutor and plaintiff's counsel.
