Actor Will Smith, who slapped presenter Chris Rock at the Academy Awards ceremony held in Los Angeles (LA) on the 27th (local time), publicly apologized one day after the incident.



"I want to publicly apologize to you, I crossed a line and I was wrong," he said on Instagram, referring to the rock.



Smith apologized for causing the incident to the organizers and attendees in his acceptance speech for the Best Actor award on the day of the ceremony, but this is the first time he has apologized directly to Rock, the victim of assault.



"Violence in any form is toxic and destructive. My actions are unacceptable and without excuses," he repented.



Smith just explained the situation at the time, saying, "It's part of my job to accept jokes about me, but I reacted emotionally to making jokes about Jada (her wife)'s illness because I thought it was serious for me."



He continued, "I also apologize to the producers, to all attendees, and to viewers watching from all over the world."



He also apologized to the Williams family and the production team of 'King Richards'.



He won the Best Actor award in this film for his role of his father, Richard Williams, who raised the Venus Serena Williams sisters as tennis empresses.



"I deeply regret my actions," Smith added. "It would have been a beautiful experience for all of us had it not been for my actions."

In relation to this sudden assault, the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which administers the award, condemned it and launched an official investigation on the 28th.



"The Academy condemns Smith's conduct on the show last night," AMPAS said in a statement. said.



Previously, AMPAS only announced a brief stance on social media right after the awards ceremony ended: "The Academy does not tolerate any form of violence."



At the awards ceremony, Smith suddenly stepped onto the stage and slapped Rock in the face after documentary award-winner comedian Rock joked with his wife, who suffers from hair loss.
