For Ukrainians who wish to evacuate to Japan, if the government does not have a passport but it is not their responsibility to do so, it will issue and accept an alternative travel certificate in a short time. I have decided on the answer to be given.

The government has a policy of actively accepting refugees from Ukraine, granting a status of residence that allows a short-term stay of 90 days, and if the person wishes, he / she can work as needed and can stay for one year. It is also allowed to change to the status of residence.

In connection with this, Jiro Hata, a member of the House of Councilors of the Constitutional Democratic Party, responded in a letter of inquiry, including what to do if a Ukrainian who wishes to evacuate to Japan does not have a passport.

On the other hand, at the Cabinet meeting on the 29th, if the reason why you do not have a passport is not your responsibility, the Japanese government will issue a travel certificate in a short time at the diplomatic mission abroad. And decided to accept the answer.

The answer also states that if a Ukrainian staying in Japan calls in a family member or acquaintance, the visa issuance procedure at a diplomatic mission abroad will be simplified.
