The National Court has taken the first step in the investigation into the intellectual authors of the car bomb attack against the

Santa Pola (Alicante)

barracks , which on August 4, 2002 killed a six-year-old girl, Silvia Martínez Santiago, and to a man, Cecilio Gallego Alaminos.

Judge

Manuel García Castellón

agreed on March 11 to open preliminary proceedings after receiving a complaint from

Dignity and Justice

against those he considered ultimately responsible for the attack.

Now the court, with the support of the Audience Prosecutor's Office, has reopened the summary in which the case was investigated and has requested reports from the Security Forces.

Specifically, it calls on the Police and the Civil Guard to provide "as much data as they have in their possession that allows them to relate" those who at that time were part of the

Zuba

, the gang's executive committee, with the attack.

They are those responsible for the

military apparatus

Juan Antonio Olarra Guridi

and Ainhoa Múgica Goñi;

from the

logistics apparatus

, Félix Ignacio Esparza;

from the

political apparatus,

Mikel Albisu,

Mikel Antza

;

from the

international apparatus

,

Ramón Sagarzazu

;

and from the treasury,

María Soledad Iparaguirre

,

Anboto

.

The request for reports on the members of the

Zuba

is the first step that the National Court has been agreeing on in the various reopenings of cases against leaders of the gang who are to be held responsible for specific attacks -the most relevant for various reasons- committed when they were in the management body of ETA.

The investigating courts are already investigating the ETA chiefs for the murders of

Miguel Ángel Blanco

,

Gregorio Ordóñez

and Judge

Francisco Querol

.

He also investigates the order to attack the Zaragoza headquarters.

Some of those responsible for ETA coincide in various reopened cases.

After the police reports, the investigating courts call those under investigation to testify.

This diligence had also been claimed by Dignity and Justice in the complaint, but has not yet been agreed.

It will be done, predictably, when the reports on the role of each one in the

Zuba

are received .

The National Court has already condemned the material perpetrators of the attack, which in addition to killing the daughter of the civil guard and the pensioner who was waiting at a bus stop, injured thirty people.

The court imposed 843 years in prison on ETA members

Andoni Otegi Eraso

and

Óscar Celarain Ortiz

.
