As SVT Nyheter Halland previously reported, the man was charged with 34 assaults on children, of which a aggravated rape that is said to have been committed in 2005.

In Varberg District Court, the man is now convicted of five rapes against children, three occasions of aggravated exploitation of children for sexual posing, three occasions of exploitation of children for sexual posing, sexual harassment and aggravated child pornography crime.

"Important to pursue these issues"

When SVT Nyheter Halland spoke with chamber prosecutor Eva-Lotta Swahn and defense lawyer Anders Roy, both parties had quickly skimmed through the verdict.

At present, neither the prosecution nor the defense know whether they will appeal the verdict.

- I am pleased that parts of the defense's argument have obviously been taken up by the district court.

Then it remains to be seen what we should think about the points where they have chosen to fall, where we will probably not agree, says Anders Roy, defense lawyer.

The last day to appeal the district court's ruling is April 19.

- It is very important that you push these issues as it is very common for children to be exposed to things like this online, chamber prosecutor says Eva-Lotta Swahn.

Freed from suspicion of 17-year-old rape

The man was also charged with a rape that occurred in 2005 in Linköping municipality, this after DNA technology helped link the man to the case.

But the district court's assessment is that they can not establish that it is the man who committed the act.

The man who has been in custody since September 2020 will remain in custody until the verdict takes effect.

The man denies the crime.

In the clip below, you see how the convicted man proceeded according to the indictment.
