Cécile Coudriou, president of Amnesty international France, was the guest of France Inter this morning.

And she adds: “67 countries that have created new laws to restrict what is called civic space.

A space in which we can precisely express dissidence.

And many countries have cracked down on these dissidents as well.

In 84 countries, so-called human rights defenders have been savagely repressed, including 17 of the 19 countries in the Middle East”.

France singled out

But far from pointing only to countries "accustomed" to flouting human rights, Cécile Coudriou specifies: "There have been abuses, including in countries that call themselves democratic, including in France moreover, where we resist with our NGO tendencies towards more surveillance which would be at the expense of privacy and therefore freedom of expression”.

The president of the NGO adds that in 85 countries in total there has been excessive use of force against these demonstrators.

"So yes, today it is very dangerous to defend human rights, whether online or in the streets," she concludes.
