US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken confirmed that the United States would be ready to support possible agreements between Moscow and Kiev regarding ensuring the security of Ukraine.

Blinken: We will support the agreements between Russia and Ukraine if they are approved

"The United States will leave Ukraine to judge whether there is real progress in negotiations with Russia, and whether Moscow is acting in good faith," he said at a press conference in the Moroccan capital Rabat.

"As for the negotiations, I will give our Ukrainian partners the right to determine whether there is real progress, and whether Russia is playing a meaningful role," he added.

And he continued, "I can say the following: There is something Russia says and does. We focus on the latter."

He explained, "I have not seen anything that would indicate that these negotiations are moving in an effective manner, at least we have not seen signs of real seriousness on the part of Russia, but if Ukraine reaches a decision confirming that these negotiations are good, we support them."

He stressed that his country would be ready to support possible agreements between Moscow and Kiev if the two sides approved them.

For his part, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu announced, at the conclusion of the talks between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul, that they "resulted in recording the most important progress since the start of the talks between the two parties."

At the conclusion of the first day of the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations in Istanbul, Cavusoglu noted that "these negotiations have begun to yield a convergence of views," expressing Turkey's gratitude to the two parties for that, and explaining that they "agreed on some issues."

The Turkish minister expected that the Russian foreign ministers, Sergey Lavrov and Ukrainian Dmitry Kuleba, would determine the course of the most difficult issues during the upcoming meetings.
