The car which left the road and hit a tree this Sunday afternoon on a roundabout in Orléans (Loiret) was driven by a 14-year-old teenager.
The passenger seat was occupied by his 17-year-old cousin.
The latter was fatally injured in the accident, said the national police, quoted by France 3 Center Val de Loire.
The car belonged to the father of the very young driver.

It is a BMW 5 Series that the two young people had decided to borrow from its owner, the Orleans prosecutor's office said the day after the incident.
The teenager who had taken the wheel was the subject of screening tests for alcohol or drug consumption, the results of which have not been communicated.
A flagrance investigation is underway.
After the accident, the shocked 14-year-old driver was hospitalized.
He was also taken into custody before being released.
