Denisova wrote on social media that "a total of 31 fires have been recorded, resulting in elevated levels of radioactive material in the air."

The radioactive material released into the air can travel long distances under the influence of wind, posing a nuclear radiation threat to Ukraine, Belarus and European countries, she said.

Denisova called on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to send experts and firefighting equipment to Ukraine as soon as possible to avoid irreversible consequences for Ukraine and the world.

At present, the Russian side said that the area around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant is under Russian control, and the Russian army is working with Ukrainian guards to ensure the safety of the nuclear power plant.
