In the United States, there are more and more voices calling for the resignation of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, after around thirty text messages between his wife and Donald Trump's former chief of staff, exchanged between the November 2020 election and Capitol Capture Day, January 6, 2021, were revealed Thursday, March 24.

It's one of 29 text messages "Ginni" sent between November 2020 and January 2021 to Mark Meadows, the former White House chief of staff.

Except that Ginni is not a supporter of Donald Trump like the others: she is the wife of Clarence Thomas, one of the nine judges of the Supreme Court, one of the most conservative too.

Dean of the Supreme Court

And since he was the only one to oppose the declassification of the White House archives on the January 6 demonstration, in which his wife had participated, the suspicion of conflict of interest seems justified.

Many Democrats believe he should have recused himself on these issues.

Others are outright asking that he retire or retire on his own.

At 73, Justice Thomas is the dean of the court, and one of six justices appointed by a Republican president.

An impeachment procedure similar to that of a president is provided for by law, but with a 50-50 Senate, it would have little chance of succeeding.
