Mexico's foreign minister praises bilateral relations with the UAE

Marcelo Ebrard, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, praised the strong bilateral relations linking his country with the United Arab Emirates in all fields.

In a press statement on the occasion of his participation in the World Government Summit to be held in Dubai on March 29-30, he said that the UAE is Mexico's main trading partner in the Arab world and the only country in the Middle East that operates direct flights to Mexico, pointing out that there are promising opportunities for developing relations between the two countries. Especially at the commercial and investment level.

He pointed out that diplomatic relations between the UAE and Mexico began about 46 years ago, expressing his happiness at his visit to the UAE, which he considered a distinct opportunity to strengthen relations between the two friendly countries in various sectors, including trade, food, technological cooperation, investment and tourism, in addition to discussing issues of common interest and regional and international developments. Especially since the UAE and Mexico are members of the United Nations Security Council and work closely together for international peace and security.

He referred to the World Government Summit and his participation in a session entitled "Mitigating future risks...from the local approach to the global approach" to emphasize the importance that the Mexican government attaches to multilateralism and the role of international organizations in facing the challenges facing the world.

The Mexican Foreign Minister praised the UAE's organization of Expo 2020 Dubai with the participation of about 192 countries and his country's participation in this prominent global event through its distinguished pavilion, stressing that Expo 2020 Dubai provided an ideal platform for strengthening international cooperation and developing relations between countries.

He expressed his confidence that this visit will contribute to strengthening relations between Mexico and the UAE in all fields, including trade, economic, tourism and investment between the two countries.
